PReS-FINAL-2011: Preliminary validation of a new hybrid measure of muscle strength for juvenile dermatomyositis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a multisystem vasculopathic disease characterized by muscle inflammation that causes symmetrical muscle weakness. Assessment of muscle strength is, therefore, a fundamental component of the clinical evaluation of children with JDM. This assessment is traditionally made using the 8-muscle Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) and the Childhood Myositis Assessment Scale (CMAS). However, the MMT does not cover all muscles or muscle groups affected in JDM, namely abdominal muscles. Although the CMAS is more comprehensive than the MMT, it is lengthy and, therefore, may not be feasible in a busy clinical setting or when a physical therapist is not available.

PReS-FINAL-2131: Hunting for biomarkers in juvenile dermatomyositis
Introduction Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) is a systemic autoimmune disorder in which the immune system targets the microvasculature of skeletal muscles, skin and other organs, with for the most part an unknown immunopathogenesis. Moreover, evaluation of disease activity remains challenging in juvenile dermatomyositis as muscle enzyme levels and inflammatory markers, routinely used in clinics,...

Introduction Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a multisystem vasculopathic disease that affects primarily the skin and muscle and is characterized by high risk of morbidity and long-term damage. Regular patient assessment through standardized quantitative clinical measures is important to monitor the disease course over time and to evaluate treatment effectiveness. However, only a few outcome m...

Provisional hypomyopathic juvenile dermatomyositis is a subgroup of clinically amyopathic juvenile dermatomyositis provisional. The diagnostic criteria include: Classic dermatomyositis skin lesions – which have to be confirmed by biopsy –, no involvement of proximal muscles, subclinical involvement of these muscles and normal level of muscle enzymes. These criteria should be present for a minim...
متن کاملPReS-FINAL-2016: Bone mineral status in a long-term follow up of juvenile dermatomyositis patients
Introduction Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a rare autoimmune disease with the onset in childhood involving chronic inflammation of striated muscle and skin. The disease is often leading to severe disability, prolonged decreased physical activity, which together with chronic inflammatory activity, and long-term medical treatment with glucocorticoids, contributes to the well-known risk factor...
متن کاملPReS-FINAL-1020: Dysregulation of the peripheral blood D cell compartment is associated with disease activity in juvenile dermatomyositis
Introduction Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is an autoimmune disease characterized by proximal muscle weakness and cutaneous manifestations, typically heliotrope rash and Gottron’s papules. Previous studies have identified an increase in circulating B cells in JDM patients, but their provenance and functional characteristics have not been examined. In this study we investigated whether a recent...
